Process & Features

Smart cars are the current orientation of the vehicle industry. Due to the needs of safety and comfort, especially the information transmission in smart cars, new products with the most advanced technology are integrated into the production modes. On this occasion, high optical performance materials have a broad application space.


As we all know, PMMA (acrylic) is a material with very excellent optical properties, second only to glass, but its heat resistance is comparatively low. However, the temperature resistance of car body materials, mostly panels, is required to meet strict regulations and fit the harsh environment in the car body. Therefore, the application of traditional PMMA in automobiles will be limited.


In the first part of this article, you can see a new process of PMMA panels various from traditional methods, that greatly improves the heat resistance.


Casting Polymerized PMMA Panel

The MMA monomers are directly formed into panels after pre-polymerization. The directly polymerized panel/sheet is not melt-sheared by an extruding machine, and no additives are added as in pellet production.


Therefore, the molecular weight of the casting polymerized PMMA panel is higher, and there is no rainbow pattern (birefringence), and the temperature resistance is thus higher. The new PMMA panel shows the following advantages:

More Colorful

In the pre-polymerization stage of the casting PMMA, toners and pigments are added to produce the panel with uniform and rich colors to meet various needs.
