How to maintain an adequate temperature during the storing and transporting period is quite important for fresh food delivery.

There are mainly 3 methods for temperature-controlled transportation: cold storage, chilly storage, and frozen storage.

Frozen food storage, the coldest storage, is mainly for fish and meat. The general temperature is between -20℃ to 0℃.

Fruits like apples are usually required to be stored in a chilly condition, a temperature of about 0℃(depending on the variety). The shelf life of an apple could be extended from 90 to 240 days, depending on the surrounding atmosphere.

Mangos, however, have to be stored and transported at a higher temperature of about 12-14℃, for they are sensitive to low temperatures. The shelf life of mangos, accordingly, is only about 14-21 days. Foods for cold storage seems to be critical of temperatures and more difficult to keep fresh.

Foods of different cold storage methods should use different vehicles to transport. Some sensitive goods require air freight rather than storage, trucking or sea freight, in order to ensure the optimal quality within the consumption time period.

High-level temperature-controlled transportation requires professional vehicles. For example, chemicals, medicines, and other biological products may at times even require humidity control, air isolation, or even light isolation.
